Why December is the answer
December in Puerto Vallarta is the town at its best behaved. The rain season that soaks the Pacific coast all summer is over. Highs sit in the high 70s, low 80s. Humidity drops out of the room entirely. And if you land in the second half of the month, you're arriving right as the first humpback whales start showing up in Banderas Bay for the season — a preview of the whale-watching run that peaks January through March.
Travel Dec 7–16 and you beat the Christmas-week crowd and the Christmas-week prices entirely. Same $119 fare exists over Dec 24–31, but that window comes with a brutal 20-hour connection — skip it. The 7–16 window keeps the routing sane at 8 hours.
